AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ contains vegetative cells of Rhizobium japonicum. The composition is customised to comply with regulatory guidelines of respective countries. Rhizobium japonicum is a proprietary strain and compliant with National Bio Diversity Authority guidelines and has Access Benefit Sharing (ABS) agreement with the State Bio Diversity Board for payment of royalty to the habitat from where the microbes have been isolated. The strain is under Patent deposit certificate with Budapest Treaty recognised depository.

Nitrogen cannot be absorbed by the plants owing to the strong triple bonds between the nitrogen atoms making it inert and therefore non assimable by plants.

Signal exchanges: The symbiotic relationship implies a signal exchange between the rhizobia and the legume that leads to development of symbiotic structures.

Bio Active compound synthesis:The roots of host legume plant secretes flavonoids which are recognized by the Rhizobia. In response, the rhizobia secrete nod factors recognized by the plant causing root hair deformation and cellular processes such as ion fluxes.

Intracellular Infection: The rhizobia enters through the deformed root hair and forms intracellular tubes called the infection thread.

Crack Entry: In this case, no root hair deformation is observed and the bacteria penetrate between cells, through cracks produced by lateral root emergence. Later on, the bacteria become intracellular and an infection thread is formed like in intracellular infections.

Nodule formation: The infection triggers cell division in the root cortex where a new organ, the nodule, appears as a result of successive processes. Infection threads grow to the nodule, infect its central tissue and release the rhizobia in these cells, where they differentiate morphologically into bacteroids and fix nitrogen from the atmosphere into a plant-usable form, ammonium ions (NH4+), using the enzyme nitrogenase.
In return, the plant supplies the bacteria with carbohydrates, proteins, and sufficient oxygen so as not to interfere with the fixation process. Leghaemoglobins are secreted which are plant proteins similar to human hemoglobins that help to provide oxygen for respiration while keeping the free oxygen concentration low enough not to inhibit nitrogenase activity.

  • • AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ effectively fixes about 50 Kg / Ha Nitrogen. Natural nitrogen fixation improves both plant and soil health and also aids in soil remediation.
  • • AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ has plant growth promoting / (PGPR) properties
  • • The population of beneficial microbes increases and the organic content of soil improves owing to organic acid secretion by the bacteria
  • • AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ can be used as an effective component in Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) programmes, thereby leading to a reduction in use of chemical fertilizers and creating a safer environment.

  • Application method Notes

    Seed dressing

Mix AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ with crude sugar in sufficient water to make a slurry and coat seeds and dry in shade and sow / broadcast / dibble in the field. Do not store treated / coated seeds more than 24 hrs

    Soil application

AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ can be used as under:

    1. Mix at recommended doses with compost and apply at early life stages of crop along with other biofertilizers

    2. Mix AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ at recommended doses in sufficient water and drench soil at early leaf stage/ 2-4 leaf stage / early crop life cycle

    3. Drip Irrigation: If there are insoluble particles, filter the solution and add to drip tank.

    4. Long duration crops / Perennial / Orchard crops: Dissolve AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ at recommended doses in sufficient water and apply as a drenching spray near root zone twice a year. It is recommended to have first application before the onset of the main monsoon / rainfall/ spring season and second application after the main monsoon / rainfall / autumn/ fall season.

    Note:

Do not store AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ solution for more than 24 hours after mixing in water.

A fraction of the product may not be soluble in water. It is advisable to filter and discard undissolved residue and use filtered liquid for spraying or feeding through drip irrigation.

  • Compatibility

Compatible with biofertilizers, organic fertilizers, organic manures, biopesticides, vermicompost, sea kelp (seaweed fertilizer), protein hydrolysates, organic carbon and rock phosphate

    Note:

It is advisable to have a one-week gap if soil application pesticides are to be used after application of AgriLife Nitrofix®-RJ.
