Rhizophagus irregularis (MUCL 57021)


Mycrorhiza® is a biological fertilizer based on a selected strain of naturally-occurring beneficial fungus Rhizophagus irregularis (MUCL 57021). Rhizophagus irregularis is an endomycorrhizal fungus which colonizes plant roots and form symbiotic relationships with plant roots. It is used as an effective soil inoculant product. Myco means ‘fungus ‘and rhiza menas ‘roots’ which refers to the mutually beneficial relationship between the root fungus and the plant. The fungus colonizes plant roots and extend far into soil. The filaments reach far off zones which the plant root itself cannot reach and aid in better nutrient assimilation and water asportation. The endomycorrhizal fungi relies on the plant for supply of carbohydrate (its food) In exchange for water and nutrients to the plant through its extensive filament network. This represents the classic symbiotic relationship which has existed for over millions of years for over 95 % of the terrestrial plant species.

Unfortunately, over the last few decades, intensive chemical farming has destroyed the naturally occurring Mycorrhiza resulting in little or no symbiotic relationships which has adversely affected plant health in terms of limited nutrient and water availability. Mycrorhiza® helps in establishing this symbiotic relationship through its various formulations.

Composition Mode of Action Mycrorhiza® benefits

Mycrorhiza®contains conidiospores of Rhizophagus irregularis. The composition is customised to comply with regulatory guidelines of respective countries. Rhizophagus irregularis a proprietary strain and compliant with National Bio Diversity Authority guidelines and has Access Benefit Sharing (ABS) agreement with the State Bio Diversity Board for payment of royalty to the habitat from where the microbes have been isolated. The strain is under Patent deposit certificate with Budapest Treaty recognised depository.

Symbiosis:The growing roots of plants emit root exudates as they push through the soil substrate. This gives the fungi the signal to colonize the roots and establish symbiosis. The mycorrhiza penetrates into the root cortex by forming nutrient exchange structures such as arbuscules within the root cells. Once roots are colonized, the process is self-sustainable and the fungus grows inside plant roots producing spores and mycelia

PGP effect: The presence of Mycorrhiza affects the composition of microbes in the rhizosphere. Some of these microbes in association with Mycorrhiza have a Plant growth promoting effect on plant health

    Seed Dressing


    Mix Mycrorhiza® with crude sugar in sufficient water to make a slurry and coat seeds and dry in shade and sow / broadcast / dibble in the field. Do not store treated / coated seeds more than 24 hrs

    Soil application


    Mycrorhiza® can be used as under:

    1. Mix at recommended doses with compost and apply at early life stages of crop along with other biofertilizers

    2. Mix Mycrorhiza® at recommended doses in sufficient water and drench soil at early leaf stage/ 2-4 leaf stage / early crop life cycle

    3. Drip Irrigation: If there are insoluble particles, filter the solution and add to drip tank.

    4. Long duration crops / Perennial / Orchard crops: Dissolve Mycrorhiza® at recommended doses in sufficient water and apply as a drenching spray near root zone twice a year. It is recommended to have first application before the onset of the main monsoon / rainfall/ spring season and second application after the main monsoon / rainfall / autumn/ fall season.

    Note:

    Do not store Mycrorhiza® solution for more than 24 hours after mixing in water.

    A fraction of the product may not be soluble in water. It is advisable to filter and discard undissolved residue and use filtered liquid for spraying or feeding through drip irrigation.

  • Compatibility

    Compatible with biofertilizers, organic fertilizers, organic manures, biopesticides, vermicompost, sea kelp (seaweed fertilizer), protein hydrolysates, organic carbon and rock phosphate

    Note:

    It is advisable to have a one-week gap if soil application pesticides are to be used after application of Mycrorhiza®.

Storage

Store in ambient temperature, not more than 35 degrees Celsius. Preferably store between 4 – 10-degree Celsius. Keep container closed after use. Store in a dry place.


Shelf life

Mycrorhiza®has a shelf life of 1 year from the date of manufacturing.

Mycrorhiza® is offered in India - as Mycorrhiza – Biofertilizer under Fertilizer Control Order (FCO) of Govt of India with label claim of Rhizophagus irregularis with 60 spores /g in carrier-based powder formulation

Mycrorhiza® is also offered as Soluble Powder formulation (1800 spores/g) and Soluble Liquid formulation (180 spores/ml).
