Somguard® SilCop contains 100 ppm nano silver and 100 ppm nano copper. It is produced by nano technology process, encapsulated by a bio polymer and suspended in water. This does not contain hydrogen peroxide and it does not oxidize in sunlight.

Silver is well known for its oligo – dynamic action (cold sterilization). Silver acts as a photo catalyst. Nano particles cause cold injury to microbial cells and deactivates the metabolic system and inhibits further reproduction of the microbe eventually killing it.

Nano copper is known to exhibit wide range of antimicrobial activity against pathogens. Antimicrobial activity is due to its tendency to alternate between its cuprous - Cu [Ι], and cupric - Cu [ΙΙ], oxidation states. The nano copper particles produce hydroxyl radicals which bind with the pathogens DNA and denature its proteins eventually killing it.

Somguard® SilCop for treating wilt disease and dieback caused by Fusarium spp and other such pathogens

Somguard® SilCop is a non-selective universal disinfectant. This treatment will kill all good and bad soil microbes. This step is called Soil disinfection. The following two approaches may be followed:

Treatment 1:

  • Drench rootzone with Somguard® SilCop @ 2.5 ml / L water as a soil disinfection treatment. Allow one-week gap and repeat same soil disinfection treatment. The soil disinfection treatment kills both good and bad bacteria. Therefore, it is important to recolonize soil with good soil probiotics.

  • After a one-week gap, post soil disinfection recolonize soil by applying a mixture of soil probiotics:

  • 30 Kg Kohinoor® (Talc based formulation) OR 3 kg Kohinoor® SP (Soluble powder formulation) -(Biofertilizers complex) OR 250g AgriLife Rootambio® + 2 Kg AgriLife Oxyrich (Oxygen releasing product) + 200 g BioFit (concentrate Biofungicides) + 300 kg Whole Neem Fruit Powder + 300 kg vernicompost + 3 kg Pacer® (for root Grubs) + 4 kg Paceilo® (Bionematicides)

Sample plan

  • Week 1: Disinfect soil with Somguard® SilCop.
  • Week 2: Disinfect soil with Somguard® SilCop.
  • Week 3: Recolonize soil with soil probiotics combination (Use one of these: Kohinoor® talc / Kohinoor® SP / AgriLife Rootambio®) and AgriLife Oxyrich , Biofit , whole neem fruit powder , vermicompost , Pacer® and Paecilo® at recommended doses.

Treatment 2:

Drench root zone with Somguard® SilCop @ 2.5 ml /L of water. Water volume depends on root zone and depth of infection of pathogen. Typically, 1000-2000 L/Ha of water is needed for such drenching. After disinfection - recolonization of rhizosphere (root zone soil) is must. It is recommended to drench soil with AgriLife Rootambio® @ 1 g per L water. Repeat application of AgriLife Rootambio® after 2 weeks (in case of orchard/ fruit crops).

Sample plan

  • Week 1: Disinfect soil with Somguard® SilCop.
  • Week 2: Recolonize soil with AgriLife Rootambio®.
  • Week 3: Recolonize soil with AgriLife Rootambio® for orchard / fruit crops.

Somguard® SilCop for bacterial and fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, bacterial blight and fruit rot

Spray Somguard® SilCop in early stage of disease on foliage/ affected area. Repeat spray after a week.

  • Week 1: Spray affected area with Somguard® SilCop.
  • Week 2: Spray affected area with Somguard® SilCop.

Somguard® SilCop and its use in pruning

Pruned debris of plants contain pathogens. Therefore, Somguard® SilCop is recommended for disinfection of the plant parts before pruning or after pruning. Use Somguard® SilCop for foliar spray before pruning or after pruning on the pruned debris.

Note:

  • Do not store Somguard® SilCop solution for more than 24 hours after mixing in water.
  • Somguard® SilCop being a non-selective universal disinfectant completely eradicates all microbes and hence recolonization with good soil probiotic bacteria is a must.

Compatibility:

Compatible with all agricultural chemicals. Somguard® SilCop should not be used along with microbial biopesticides and biofertilizers as it is a biocide and will kill/inactivate the active beneficial microbes.

How is Somguard® SilCop unique when compared with other similar products in market?
Yes, Somguard® Silcop is quite unique in comparison to other Silver based products in the market. The ‘market products are formulated with Hydrogen Peroxide which is hazardous and carcinogenic.
We do Nano Silver and Nano Copper by Nano Tech process and encapsulate with Chitosan based biopolymer and suspend in water. Thus - Somguard® SilCop is very unique product. Somgurd® SilCop does NOT get oxidised by sun light

If Somguard® SilCop is consumed by humans accidentally, what would happen and what is the first aid to be given?
Somguard® SilCop has 100 ppm of Silver and 100 ppm Copper. Water is carrier. Therefore, it is not toxic. Chitosan may cause vomiting - and no other health hazard if consumed accidentally. Treat symptomatically.

How long will the nano silver/copper particles which kill the pathogens stay in the applied area?
Somguard® SilCop is a Universal Disinfectant. 100 ppm spray = 500 ml per Acre = 50 ppm per Acre on 4000 Square meters of land and may be 10,000 square metres of foliage. This means not even traces can be found in residues

Thus - for virus control Somguard® SilCop is a unique solution
Soil pathogens like Fusarium which causes wilt is very difficult to control by any chemical fungicide. Songuard drenching to soil in such endemic wilt areas - will kill soil pathogens

Is there any certification available to claim it is a natural product?
Silver/Copper are natural products. No certifications are available. However internal assay is done to determine the content which is available as a Certificate of analysis.
